Angel Fire Summer Activities Ultimate Bucket List
There’s no shortage of summer activities in the Angel Fire, New Mexico. Ranging from easy and chill, to wild and adrenaline-boosting, we have it all. Let’s face it—you could find several of these activities elsewhere. Sure, they’d be fun in Texas. But would it be sunny and a cool 70 degrees? Doubtful.
Golf
One of the main attractions in Angel Fire is the golf scene, and for good reason. The 6,653 yard, 18-hole golf course at Angel Fire Resort is PGA-rated—Golf America calls it one of the top high elevation (8,500’ to be exact) courses in the country. An added bonus is that your ball will fly farther because of the high altitude and thin air, so get ready for the round of your life!
On the Water
You could spend a whole summer at Monte Verde Lake alone. Stocked with rainbow trout throughout the season, the spring-fed lake is open daily for fishing. Canoes, kayaks, pedalboards, SUP boards and pedal boats are available for rent. While swimming in the lake is not allowed due to the water’s cold temperature, you can boat to your heart’s desire.
If you want a change of scenery, Eagle Nest Lake is located close by on the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway, never far away from a snow fed stream. Surrounded by the mountains of the Moreno Valley, the park sits at an elevation of 8,200 feet. Anglers can fish either from the banks or by boat, as Eagle Nest Lake is regularly stocked with salmon and trout.
Biking
Angel Fire Bike Park is the largest mountain bike park in the Rocky Mountains and has been voted “Best in the Southwest” by MTBparks.com seven years in a row! If endurance mountain biking is more your jam, the Moreno Valley is home to a growing network of cross country trails from short out & backs to New Mexico’s only IMBA EPIC trail. You can bike all the way from Angel Fire to Taos if you want! Plus, the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway provides one of the best road cycling routes in the Southwest.
Ziplining
From May 14 to September 13, you can zip through the fresh alpine air on the Angel Fire Zipline Adventure Tour. With six ziplines, five scenic chairlifts and two professional guides, you’ll want to experience this adrenaline rush again and again!
Tennis & Pickleball
Tennis, anyone? The Angel Fire Resort Tennis Center has six hard courts and six pickleball courts, plus a tennis pro is often on-site. Summer passes are available for purchase. Get your racquets and paddles ready!
Hiking
With terrain suited for all levels, hiking is a must during summer in Angel Fire. There is no shortage of greenbelt, mountain or other trails—breathtaking views guaranteed.
Other activities include, but are not limited to disc golf, controlled ATV riding, horseback riding and hot air balloon rides. Summer in Angel Fire is unlike anything else.
